Why Auror Risk Detection?
Know risks before they enter
Without advance warning, retail teams are left reacting to violence, abuse, and organized crime without context. With Auror Risk Detection, identify known repeat offenders and persons of interest (POIs) based on past serious behavior; protecting your teams, guests, and communities.
Auror Risk Detection Modules
Detect known threats before harm happens
Risk Detection connects seamlessly with a range of cameras to detect high-harm individuals linked to past serious behavior in your stores. We wrap the data governance and controls around this technology, integrate human verification at key steps, and prioritize privacy by design.

Vehicle Recognition
Detect high-risk vehicles
Automatically detect and alert your team when known vehicles of interest (VOIs) arrive, powered by License Plate Recognition (LPR)/Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology built directly into the Auror platform.

Subject Recognition
Identify repeat offenders
Alert teams to known high-risk persons of interest (POIs) before they offend, responsibly.

Frequently asked questions
Auror Risk Detection surfaces known high-risk persons of interest (POIs) and vehicles in real time to enable proactive, safer prevention of harm or loss. Detections are matched against a retailer’s existing verified POI intelligence, alerting trained retail team members whenever a known POI enters a store or a known vehicle approaches. The contextual alert allows the team members to see the full picture of incident history, known behaviors, associations, and risk indicators, enabling a coordinated, informed response before an incident unfolds. Where both Vehicle Recognition and Subject Recognition are deployed together, they create a multi-layered defense: an early warning when a known vehicle enters the car park, followed by a second alert when a known person enters the store, giving teams more certainty and more time to act safely.
The Auror platform enables users to access and share their data in a controlled and responsible way. Auror is a data processor, which means it does not use personal information uploaded by users for its own purposes. The platform stores and processes personal information on behalf of users and according to the instructions of our users. Auror safeguards ensure biometric data is never stored within the retailer's information in Auror, a retailer employee is always in the loop on decisions, and auditability tools promote transparency and responsible use. Learn more about Auror's privacy and security policies on the Trust Center.
Auror safeguards ensure biometric data is never retained and discarded immediately for any person who is not a verified POI. Subject Recognition is based on the retailer’s information on Auror, which is deliberately restricted to prohibit the collection of sensitive information such as ethnicity, race, religion, political affiliation, or sexual orientation. It is strictly used for identification of POIs for crime prevention and safety purposes only. It cannot in any way be used for profiling, categorization, prediction, tracking, monitoring behavior, or targeted marketing purposes. POI watchlists are generated only from a retailer’s own data, and watchlists are not shared across retailers within the Auror Network. Vehicle Recognition (LPR/ANPR) detects licence plates linked to known vehicles of interest (VOIs) and connects them to associated persons of interest (POIs), incidents, and risk indicators, giving teams an early warning as a known vehicle approaches. Subject Recognition (ASR) uses facial recognition technology to identify known high-risk POIs as they approach or enter a store, with full intelligence context available so staff can respond safely and proportionately. When deployed together, they create a multi-layered defense that gives teams more certainty and more time to act before harm occurs.
Auror Risk Detection supports a wide range of camera manufacturers. Axis Communications, Hanwha Vision, and i-Pro are camera vendors we often work with when delivering Risk Detection projects. Because Risk Detection is built into the Auror platform, detections connect directly to the intelligence layer, feeding alerts, investigations, and POI profiles without manual bridging between tools.
